F.L.Y. L.I.B.R.E. is a liberatory wellness guide created for folks of color who are working toward a more loving and just world—and may be forgetting to count themselves in it. Inspired by therapist Dorian Ortega’s FLY (First Love Yourself) Radical Therapy and life coach Maraliz Salgado’s Libérate Life Coaching, this guide centers self-love, healing, and wholeness as essential to liberation.
Designed for individual reflection and collective practice, F.L.Y. L.I.B.R.E. explores eight life areas: Love, Learn, Labor, Lament, Laugh, Lust, Limpia, and Liberate. Each section includes a brief grounding reflection followed by guided prompts using the L.I.B.R.E. framework: Liberatory Mindset, Integration, Belonging, Radical Responsibility, and Embodiment.

Meet the authors
Maraliz Salgado
The founder of Libérate Life Coaching, LLC, where she supports womxn of color in returning home to freedom through life transitions such as burnout, role misalignment, and relational or identity shifts. A liberatory educator, facilitator, coach, author, and speaker, she brings over 20 years of service to students, educators, families, and sister-clients across the country.
A seasoned racial healing practitioner and circle keeper, Maraliz has worked with youth, parent mentors, and school, community, and nonprofit leaders through racial equity coaching, post-secondary purpose coaching, and ethnic studies curriculum consulting. Her values-based, holistic approach weaves together strategic goal-setting, connected accountability, Reiki, and Indigenous healing practices. Through 1:1 and group work, Maraliz cultivates decolonial wellness and helps reignite a passion for justice—starting with self, in beloved community. A proud native of Borikén, she is a loving wife and devoted mama who can be found wherever community, cultura, and healing are unfolding.
Dorian A. Ortega
A Boricua licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and the founder of F.L.Y. Radical Therapy, LLC. First Love Yourself (F.L.Y.) Radical Therapy is a mental and behavioral health group practice that centers love of, for, and by the global majority—BIPOC and LGBTQI2S+ communities—using talk therapy as medicine and self-love as a revolutionary act.
Grounded in ancestral wisdom and informed by liberation, womanist, Black, and Latinx psychology, F.L.Y. Radical Therapy honors healing for self, with each other, and for our communities as a pathway to collective freedom. Dorian is also a co-founder of Healing Jodonas, a Chicago-based collective offering free poetry healing circles and community events that use art as a culturally relevant, accessible tool for expression, resistance, and healing. Dorian is grown: a momma, titi, big sis, devoted partner, and lover of free love deeply rooted in community care and liberation.
